“Get Up and Get out. If Opportunity Doesn’t Knock, Build a Door.”

When I’m talking to job seekers who are in tech or want to get into it, I emphasize how important it is to do in-person networking when possible. It’s not only an important and effective way to land a job, but it’s also good for your mental health. Sitting in front of the glowing screen all day applying to jobs and sending outreach notes, can only go so far.

I reached out to two of my friends Trisha Degg and Jim Conti who are dialed into the Chicago tech scene to get their take on events happening across the city. If you are in other tech hubs across the country there should be similar events being held by tech associations, venture capital firms, etc that you can tap into.
